"Toofan Thaddhesham": Panchayat-Level Inauguration

September 29, 2026

The second phase of the anti-drug public campaign, Operation Toofan 2.0, was inaugurated in Morayur Grama Panchayat on September 28, 2026. This phase marks a decisive step toward mounting a strong, grassroots defense against the drug mafia. By integrating police enforcement capabilities, the democratic reach of the local panchayat, specialized support from healthcare and education sectors, and the active involvement of Kudumbashree, youth, and the general public, the initiative aims to extend anti-drug interventions to every ward, household, and educational institution.

Formally inaugurating the project, Panchayat President Shri Mundodan Abdu Jaleel remarked that Operation Toofan must evolve into an ongoing social movement that rallies the community toward achieving drug-free families, drug-free schools, drug-free wards, and ultimately a drug-free panchayat. As part of the launch, the official "Toofan" flag was hoisted, and attendees took an anti-drug pledge.

Shri Rajesh, Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Kondotty Police Station, led an orientation session outlining the key activities of this second phase. The event also formally announced the establishment of People’s Vigilance Committees across all 21 wards.

Panchayat Vice President Smt. M. Safiya presided over the function. Standing committee chairpersons Rasheed Bangalath, Tasleena C., and Chekkunni Bava; Ward Member Shri Anees Babu; Planning Committee Vice Chairman Shri V.P. Aboobacker; and political party representatives Shri Razaq Parakkal, Shri Aanathan Ajmal, Shri Haroon Zakariya, Shri Aanathan Salam, Shri M. Muhammad Kutty, Shri Hamza C., Shri Gafoor, Shri M. Kammad, and Advocate Fahad, among others, addressed the gathering.

A live stream of the state-level official inauguration of Operation Toofan 2.0 was broadcast in a specially arranged hall at the Grama Panchayat office auditorium. School headmasters, volunteers, Kudumbashree members, Haritha Karma Sena workers, various department officials, and retired government employees attended the event. Grama Panchayat Secretary Smt. Meera V.S. welcomed the gathering, and Assistant Secretary Bhaskaran delivered the vote of thanks.
